Middlesbrough is proud to be hosting the start of Stage 3 of the Tour De Yorkshire on Sunday, May 1, which will see the cream of world cycling roll out through the town before tackling a challenging and hilly 198km route to Scarborough.
It promises to be a thrilling climax to the 2016 race, and the town is already hard at work ensuring it’s a memorable experience for all involved, from the elite racing teams to the thousands of spectators who will flock into to town to cheer the peloton on its way.
Middlesbrough will be celebrating the arrival of the Tour de Yorkshire with the Enjoy the Ride Festival.
About the Cycle Event
The Tour de Yorkshire a UCI-approved 2.1 Europe Tour international cycle race that will be one of the biggest cycle races in the UK in 2016 and an outstanding event in the international cycling calendar, with some of the top international teams taking part and a women’s race on Saturday 30th April 2016. It will be broadcast live on TV in the UK and throughout Europe.

The MIDDLESBROUGH Route
The morning of Sunday, May 1 will see the peloton of the Tour de Yorkshire gather in Centre Square ahead of the much-anticipated final stage of this year’s race.
Huge crowds are expected. Middlesbrough’s roll-out will see the 150-plus field take in some of the town’s best known landmarks before the racing begins in earnest en route to Scarborough.
