Hello to all our community, this article is to introduce an event which is to raise some funds for the Alzheimers Society.
This September Memory Walks will be taking place across England, Wales and Northern Ireland to raise money for a world without dementia. We need thousands of people to walk with us – because arm in arm, step by step and pound by pound, we will get there.
Hope is the spirit of the day
People of all ages and abilities can join in, from grandparents to grandchildren, and even your furry four-legged friends. It’s a day for everyone to come together, celebrate loved ones affected by dementia, and raise money to reclaim the future.
Louise Shaw and Tracey Quinn have organised a memory walk. The nearest one to the area was in Chester-Le-Street and they have decided to arrange their own fundraising event. The Alzheimers Society have given full support and are happy for them to go ahead and arrange this.
Date- Saturday 19th September
Location- Albert park Middlesbrough (to start where the parkrun starts, the bottom end of the central path near the lake & visitors centre)
Time: 11am start
Distance: 5k (approx 3.2 miles)
They have decided instead of people asking for sponsorship there is just an entry fee of £5 per adult and £2.50 for under 12’s (if people do want to collect sponsorship there will be charity buckets available on the day to deposit this).
There will also be a cake sale and a raffle on the day to raise further funds. If any local businesses would like to donate prizes to the raffle, doesnt matter how small they are then please get in touch using the methods listed below. If you can bake fabulous cakes then please also drop the ladies a line, they will be able to advise you.

At the moment they are just finalising details with the possible sponsor and once this is complete, will be able to start accepting entries and payments. The idea is to send out wristbands once payment has been made to act as ticket system for the event. They are hoping to have all the administration done before the day with regards to entries so they are then able to give an accurate number of attendees to the relevant people.
