Middlesbrough has a very proud military history and on June 20th you can show your respect and appreciation for all of our Armed Forces by going to Centre Square in the town and watching the festivities for Armed Forces Day.
The Square – the North East’s biggest civic open space – will provide a fitting backdrop for this fun filled family day, including, a parade, band performance and a variety of demonstrations, activities and entertainment.
Armed Forces Day is a national celebration of local support for the military.
The day runs from 10am to 3pm and is open to all, from families and local groups to veterans and potential new recruits.
The celebration – formerly known as Veterans’ Day – has been developed to reflect the wider role of the UK Armed Forces in the life of the nation and its local communities, and their involvement in ongoing conflicts around the globe.
Highlights of the day will include a parade of service veterans, Air Sea and Army Cadets, the military standards, veterans, local army and cadet units
There will be traditional games for all the family to enjoy, an inflatable assault course, facepainting, martial arts displays and a tea dance which will feature the Doo Wop Dollies- a vintage loving female singing group, bringing you the best songs from the 1920’s, 30’s and 40’s.
