SIGNING SANTA RETURNS
Starting from Saturday 26th November and running each Saturday on the 3rd December, 10th December and the 17th December 2106 from 12pm t0 3pm, meet the amazing miracle Santa who created a stir last Christmas with his amazing and moving sign language skills. He will be in Newton Mall on hand to meet some excited children and to make their dreams come true .
“Signing Santa”, whose video communicating with three-year-old Mali Williams-Cody went globally viral on social media, is on his way back to Middlesbrough’s Cleveland Centre.
Last year’s moving meeting between Santa and Mali touched the hearts of all who saw the video of them communicating via sign language.
Thanks to the power of social media, the video was watched more than 3.4 MILLION times on YouTube – and has been watched more than 20 million times on other various video platforms.
Like hundreds of other Teesside children, Mali and her family queued patiently last December to meet Santa and reveal what presents she was hoping for on Christmas Day.
But Mali, from Park End, Middlesbrough, has learning and communication difficulties. When mum Suzanne explained her predicament to Santa, he simply asked “Can she sign at all?”
That was the moment Hollywood and the Christmas spirit came to the Cleveland Centre. In a scene straight out of the story line from the popular film ‘Miracle on 34th Street’, Santa started talking to Mali in sign language, and the look of delight as she realised they had a special connection was a magic moment.
Mali’s mum Suzanne Williams was left teary-eyed when she saw her daughter telling Santa what she wanted for Christmas, while people across the world viewing the video were enchanted by the magical moment.
Meeting Santa is free of charge, though a collection will be made for Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice each day. There is a gift for every child visiting Santa.
