Fresh from their appearance on Ant & Dec’s ‘Saturday Night Takeaway’ on Saturday night (March 7) in front of 6.5 million viewers, organisers (The Event Manager UK) are proud to announce American Superstars Sister Sledge are lined up to perform at an open air concert in Middlesbrough on Saturday, June 13.
They will headline Summer 70s live! at Stewart Park, Middlesbrough, in front of what is anticipated to be a sell-out crowd.
This is certainly a massive coup for Middlesbrough considering the group have performed on some of the most prestigious stages in the world including Carnegie Hall, Madison Square Garden, The Royal Albert Hall, Japan’s Nakano Sun Plaza, the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury Festival, the Burg al Arab in Dubai, the Zenith in Paris and the State House in Ghana. They also performed a rousing set at the final White House Christmas Party of the Clinton administration!
Over the years the group has amassed a string of gold and platinum records accumulating in over 15 million sales and will perform all their hits on the night including:
‘We are family’, ‘He’s the Greatest Dancer’ ‘Frankie’ ‘Lost in Music’ ‘All American Girls’ to name but a few!
In the aftermath of 9/11 they re-recorded ‘We Are Family’ as a benefit record with a host of other artists including Diana Ross and Patti Labelle
They will be supported by at least another 4 quality bands (to be announced later) and will perform from 4pm to 11pm.
Summer 70s live! organisers expect many people to come in fancy dress, so its time to dust down your flares, get out your wigs and polish your platforms for a day to remember.
The Event is strictly 18s and over, challenge 21 will be in place.
